And so it continues…the story of one of Canada’s most enduring and iconic bands,  Glass Tiger, roars on.  

Originally known as Tokyo, the band formed in Newmarket, Ontario in 1981 and spent several years cutting their teeth in the bar scene of the day. With rapidly growing popularity, it didn’t take long for all the major record labels to come courting, culminating in their signing of a worldwide recording deal with Capitol Records in 1985.

2025

Glass Tiger will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame solidifying their place as one of Canada’s most beloved bands.

2023

The band is inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame during a ceremony at Toronto’s Massey Hall.

2018

The band releases 31, an album featuring reimagined and acoustic versions of their classic hits, marking their 31st anniversary.

2003

After a hiatus in 1993, Glass Tiger reunites to continue touring and performing for fans.

Quick Fact

Their iconic hit “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone)” features Bryan Adams on backup vocals. The collaboration helped catapult the song to international success, reaching #1 in Canada and #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

1989

Glass Tiger releases their third album, Simple Mission, which features the single “My Town” with guest vocals by Rod Stewart.

1988

Glass Tiger’s second album, Diamond Sun, is released. The album is certified triple platinum in Canada and features the single “I’m Still Searching”, which peaks at #2 in Canada.

1986

Their debut album, The Thin Red Line, is released. It becomes the fastest-selling debut in Canadian history at the time and includes the hit song “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone).”

1983

Glass Tiger is formed in Newmarket, Ontario, initially under the name Tokyo, before changing their name to Glass Tiger in 1984.

The sound of Glass Tiger’s hit “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone)” was inspired by the shuffle beat of Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World,” a tune they listened to with producer Jim Vallance on their first day together.
